Prepare for employment as a medical coder/medical biller. Completion of this program will qualify the student to take a national certification exam. Medical Office Administrative Assistant |
This program will provide the student with basic knowledge and skills necessary to secure a career as an administrative medical assistant. Through a series of modules, students will learn the basics of professionalism, medical ethics and medical law, as well as the correct procedural steps in performing all administrative functions of a medical facility. Students have the opportunity to become a Utah State Endorsed Medical Office Administrative Assistant. Both Medical Office I (Information Management) and Medical Office II (Administrative Procedures) must be completed to take the Utah State Board of Education exam.

Medical Terminology |
The objective of this class is to develop a working knowledge of medical terminology. Upon completion of this course students will acquire a large vocabulary using word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms. Students will be able to spell medical words correctly and be able to use a medical dictionary along with other medical reference books proficiently. The class will be of great assistance to those currently working in a medical facility and to those preparing for a career in the medical field. This course is a prerequisite fir most health science courses and the BATC Practical Nursing program.

Medical Transcription |
This 900-hour educational program in medical transcription will prepare students for entry-level employment as medical language specialists, Professional Level 1 as defined by AAMT. the program is based on AAMT's Model Curriculum for medical transcription and will help the students acquire the basic knowledge, understanding, and skills required to document patient care. This will include transcribing authentic physician dictation, preparing patient care documents with accuracy, timelines, and principles of ethical and professional conduct. A 100-hour externship will be provided for students who meet qualifying criteria.

Nurse Aide Training (CNA) |
This course provides students with an understanding of the human body and procedures and practices required for basic nursing care. Employment opportunities exist in private homes, nursing care centers, and hospitals. This class is required before testing and applying for State of Utah certification. A non-refundable $50 background check fee is required. Background check must be complete before class begins. Prerequisite: CPR.

Pharmacy Technician |
This program provides the basic health care skills students can use as a pharmacy technician. Pharmacy technicians can find employment in hospitals, private and chain drug stores, drug manufacturers and health maintenance organizations. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to assist the pharmacist in the packaging and distribution of medication. The student who receives a technical certificate will have knowledge of the professional technical skills necessary for direct employment as a pharmacy technician. A national certification exam is available upon successful completion of the program. An academic assessment (which includes reading comprehension, basic math, ratio proportions, fractions/percents, and keyboarding 25 words per minute) is mandatory before enrollment; contact the Assessment Center at 750-3188 for an appointment. Phlebotomy |
| This course presents a study of basic phlebotomy. Specimen collection including skin punctures, venipunctures, professionalism, hospital and laboratory study, basic anatomy, physiology, laboratory testing, medical terminology, patient complications, isolation, technique, infection control and legal and safety issues are included in the content of this course. Learn to collect and draw blood samples for clinical testing in the health facility laboratory. Employment opportunities exist in clinics and hospitals. Upon completion of this training, students will be prepared to apply for national certification. Students must be 18 years of age to enroll. |

Physical Therapy Aide |
| This 120 hour course of study includes: role of physical therapy aide in patient recovery, physical therapy treatments, exercise training, legal and ethical issues, etc. Students will spend 30 hours in a physical therapy facility doing hands-on care and training. Veterinarian Assistant-Pre Vet Tech |
Owners of pets and other animals today expect state-of-the-art veterinary care. To provide this service, veterinarians use the skills of veterinarian assistants/pre technicians who perform many of the same duties for a veterinarian that a medical assistant would for a physician. Veterinarian assistant/pre technician is a professional who acts as support staff for the veterinarian and others while helping animals in need. Veterinary assistants/pre technicians have a range of duties including, but not limited to: animal restraint, nursing care, radiology, routine lab procedures, blood collection, catheterization, dental cleanings, administration of vaccines, physical exams, client services, front office duties, general cleaning of exam rooms and kennels, CPR/First Aid etc. This program will prepare students to work at veterinary clinics or to seek further education in the veterinary field.
