Setting up an E-mail account is not too difficult. If you have access to the Internet, you can choose the provider you would like to work with. Some examples are Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. For this instruction we will use Yahoo; however, the process for all providers is fairly similar.
On your computer, open the Internet by clicking on either the Microsoft Explorer icon or the Netscape Navigator icon. Key Yahoo.com,Hotmail.com, or Gmail.com (depending on the provider you choose) into the Address Bar. You should see the E-mail home page. On the screen, find the option for “Mail.” When you click on the “Mail” link, you should see the mail sign-in page.

This screen will let you sign up for E-mail service. To set up an account, click on the “Sign Up” button.
A form will appear that you need to fill out. Fill in the required fields, remember that unless you give the provider the information they want, you might not get an account. If the information you filled out is accepted by the provider you should see another screen informing you that your account has been created. You may want to print this page and record your username and password in a safe place for future reference. |
There is one final step to this process. Click on the “Continue to Mail” button and you are finally into your new E-mail account. You will probably already have a message confirming your E-mail account.
Since Yahoo®, Hotmail®, and Gmail® are companies known throughout the Internet world, you should be able to access your account at any computer terminal. Good Luck! |
